Hello Nature Adventure Tours is a family run business with a profound respect and appreciation for this stunning part of the world we call home. As passionate kayakers, we wanted to share the magic of BC’s west coast with visitors who travel here from every part of the world. We have spent the past 20 years learning, listening and connecting with the culture and the people who have lived here and stewarded these lands and waters for thousands of years. Sea kayaking has allowed us to form a deep connection to culture, history and nature and is the best way we know to detach from our fast-paced lives and reconnect with the stillness and peace of nature. We would love to have you join us on a sea kayaking trip of a lifetime and discover the breathtaking beauty of the Broken Group Islands and its incredible biodiversity.

A Little Bit About Us
Few places on earth have stirred our souls and allowed us to truly connect with nature and Phil and I feel deeply privileged to be a part of this very special area. The Broken Group Islands and our lodge are home to such a concentration of wildness; bears, wolves, eagles, seals, sea lions, dolphins and whales all feasting on the abundance of herring and salmon.
The Broken Islands Lodge was originally called the Sechart Whaling Station and from 1905 to 1917 it was owned by the Pacific Whaling Company. A century later, Phil and I (a pilot and a teacher) learned the land was for sale, saw its potential, and were excited about the opportunity to become first-time lodge owners. Partnering with my parents, Janet and Arnie Melissen, has been part of the fun as together we have explored and learned about the area and what it takes to operate a remote wilderness lodge.
Restoring a 100 year old building and grounds has been its own adventure and a labour of love and, while not a luxury resort, our vision was to create a cosy, comfortable and inviting place. For many of our guests Broken Islands Lodge has become an annual retreat and my favorite part is welcoming new friends back year after year.
We specialize in kayaking so whether you are a beginner on your first trip in our sea kayaks or an experienced paddler and bringing your own, we invite you to come play and stay at Broken Islands Lodge. For non-paddlers there are many comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces and a fantastic wood fired hot tub perfect for R&R with a wide variety of activities including hiking, beachcombing and bird watching.
It is an area that has been described as indescribable and we would love to welcome you to come explore the wild beauty, rich history and vibrant culture that is the Broken Group Islands unit of Pacific Rim National Park.
